Kawanna Felix Memorial & Daughters Support Fund!

Donation protected
Kawanna Felix was a dedicated mother to five beautiful girls(Dataishia Comeaux, Mercedes Comeaux, Bernazia Shelvin, Andreasha Felix, Aniyah Felix) and a grandmother to four beautiful grandchildren of whom which she was the predominant caregiver for two. Unfortunately, Kawanna was abruptly taken from her family due to domestic gun violence on October 4th 2022. The five girls ages are 25, 23, 19, 13, and 7. Unfortunately, Kawanna’s family is no stranger to gun violence as one of her daughter’s currently lay in the hospital battling lingering health issues due to being a victim of gun violence about 3 years ago which rendered her paralyzed. Displaying strength and resilience, Kawanna Felix picked up all of her daughter’s parental responsibilities of her children - one being special-needs and another just shy of 3 years old. Kawanna’s second eldest daughter is now charged with displaying that same strength and resilience as she is the sole family member available to take on her two younger siblings along with her sister’s two daughters. As you can imagine this will be a lot for a Dedicated CNA who was expected to leave for her first travel assignment next week. She has a family with two sons to support financially as well. Kawanna’s ana’s 18-year old daughter (who lost her father to gun violence at the age of 4) has persevered through life with Kawanna’s support and love and she has embarked upon pursuing a nursing degree from Dillard University and has just received her white coat as a sophomore. She will be a first generation college graduate for her family. Kawanna’s other two daughters are in high school and elementary school and were working hard to make their mother proud as well. These girls will be expected to lay their mother to rest which requires financial and emotional support that we are asking of the community to come together and assist with. I ask that you also bear in mind the additional financial burden that will arise due to her 23-year old having to support four girls and her own two sons. This writing doesn’t begin to display the sorrow, grief, despair, and uncertainty that these girls are currently experiencing, but it is with great hope that you are moved to give whatever you can to support this family’s long road and journey of healing.
