Kavan's Medical Assistance and Expenses
Donation protected
Sunday night September 26th,2021 Kavan Smith was invovled in a tragic accident. He was on his way to college at Dodge City Kansas but only made to Oakley Kansas when he was hit head on by another driver. The person in the vehicle that struck Kavan did not survive.
Kavan was in critical condition following the accident, with a displaced broken left femur, concussion, cuts and bruises.
Kavan was transferred by flight from Oakley to Wichita Kansas, where he was in the ICU Unit and the next day had a three hour surgery to repair his femur. He is currently in a private room recovering, having physical therapy and working to get to the ability to transfer by himself.
As you can image Brandi and Russell are next to Kaven side through all of this, and took a leave from work. I know Kaven is loving having his favorite nurse, Mom by his side!
As you can image the financial strain on the Smith family, I have voluntarily set up this go fund me page.
The Smith's have became my family over the last several years and have helped me more than you know. Brandi has been a RN at Wray Hospital for as long as I can remember, she is a dedicated sports mom following her kids (all Idalia kids, and my kids) to each edge of the state watching and cheering them on. Russell is a former deputy of Washington County and currently works at Stratton Coop, where he plays a major role in the farming community.
As for the Smith kids, Kavan was a graduate of 2021 from Idalia High school and was active.in FFA, football, basketball, 4H market animals, shooting sports, and wood working. He is attending the Diseal Mechanic program at Dodge City Kansas.
Koy is currently a senior at Idalia high school and participates in football, track, FFA, 4H market animals and is a member of the Wray Eagles wrestling squad.
Allysa is currently 8th grader at Idalia schools and is active in volleyball, basketball, track, and 4H market animals.
If you choose to donate, thank you; the money will be used to help with medical costs, transportation costs, home care, and anything that Kavan needs to make a full and speedy recovery. If you do not have the funds right now, we ask that you pray for strength for Kaven to conquer this mountain God has given him to climb and to make a full recovery.
Thank you for all the contribution and prayers, God hears our prayers and Kaven will conquer this mountain with your help.
If you wish to help, and do not want to go through gofundme, venmo is a option at BrandiSmith@Brandi-Smith-307; or please contact me and I will see that the Smith's get your donation.
Thanks again. ~Tracy Collins
