Hallo, mein Name ist Tamara, ich bin 53 Jahre alt, berufstätig und engagiere mich sehr im Tierschutz. Ich versorge seit Jahren Streunerkatzen und brauche jetzt für eine meiner eigenen Katzen dringend Hilfe. Meine Katze Sunny, die gerade mal 1 Jahr und 3 Monate alt ist. Da ich im letzten Jahr im Februar und im März meine beiden Seniorenkatzen gehen lassen musste und sie davor eine sehr kostenintensive Behandlung mit mehreren Klinikaufenthalten hatten, kann ich mir die weitere, lebenswichtige Behandlung von meiner Sunny nicht mehr leisten und bitte um eure Hilfe.

Sunny hat Anfang Juli einen Fremdkörper verschluckt, eine 2 Cent Münze, die am 14.07.2025 entfernt werden musste. Wir brachten sie sofort am Sonntag vor der Operation zur Ärztin und sie musste stationär aufgenommen werden. Bei der Operation musste ihr Bauch und ihr Magen geöffnet werden. Danach ging es ihr bis zum vergangenen Samstag gut. Sie trug tapfer ihren Body und erholte sich sehr gut. Am Samstag, den 19.07.2025 erbrach sie plötzlich und bekam ein Unterhautemphysem. Dies bedeutet, dass Luft in die Katze eindringt und sie sehr anschwillt, die ganze Haut knistert. Sie musste erneut im Notdienst stationär aufgenommen werden. Am Montag, den 21.07.2025 mussten wir sie von der Ärtzin aus direkt in die Klinik nach Neu Isenburg bringen, wo sie behandelt wurde, ebenso wie am Dienstag und sie durfte mit nach Hause, da sie dort viel Luft ablassen konnten.

In der Nacht zu Mittwoch bekam sie Maulatmung, Atemnot und schwoll wieder unfassbar dick an. Als Notfall brachten wir sie um 2 Uhr morgens nach Kalbach in die Klinik. Sunny war und ist in akuter Lebensgefahr und wieder stationär in der Klinik in Kalbach.

Es wurde eine Endoskopie und ein CT heute gemacht und sie wissen noch nicht, wo die Luft in den Körper strömt. Sie hat Luft in der Lunge, im Bauchraum und liegt momentan im Sauerstoffzelt an Schläuchen, die die eintretende Luft entfernen. Sie hat eine Drainage, damit auch die Lunge frei bleibt. Die heutige Diagnose lautet Spannungspneumothorax, dies bedeutet, dass Luft zwischen Lunge und Brustwand eindringt.

Die vergangene Operation und die Behandlung in Neu Isenburg beliefen sich auf 1400€, die von mir vor diesem Aufruf beglichen wurden. Die Rechnungen sind als Bilder eingefügt, als Nachweis, dass Sunny operiert wurde und in Neu Isenburg war.

Das Problem sind jetzt die immensen Kosten in der Tierklinik in Kalbach, die noch steigen werden. Dafür habe ich noch keine Rechnung als Nachweis, da Sunny noch stationär in der Klinik ist und behandelt wird. Am Mittwoch und Donnerstag entstanden Kosten durch den Notdienst, Röntgen, CT, Endoskopie von ca.4000€. Dazu kommen laut Klinik täglich 600-700€ kosten für die intensiv stationäre Aufnahme.

Durch die immensen Kosten im vergangenen Jahr mit meinen verstorbenen Seniorinnen ist es mir nicht mehr möglich, die Behandlung in Kalbach zu tragen, was bedeutet, dass ich sie einschläfern lassen müsste. Sunny kämpft um ihr Leben und sie will Leben und ich kann nicht schon wieder ein Tier verlieren.

Im schlimmsten Fall müssen sie den Brustkorb öffnen und schauen, ob das Loch in der Lunge sitzt. Die ganze Behandlung ist unfassbar teuer und nicht mehr tragbar für mich. Da wir leider nicht mehr Bilder hochladen können, kann ich gerne, wenn gewünscht, die Quittungen der letzten Behandlungen per Foto schicken, ebenso von Sunny.

Jeder Euro zählt und ich und meine geliebte Sunny sind für jeden Euro von ganzem Herzen dankbar.

Since I had to let my two senior cats go in February and March of last year, and they had previously undergone very expensive treatment with multiple hospital stays, I can no longer afford further, vital treatment for my Sunny and am asking for your help.

Sunny swallowed a foreign object at the beginning of July, a 2-cent coin, which had to be removed on July 14, 2025. We took her to the doctor immediately on the Sunday before the surgery, and she had to be admitted. During the surgery, her abdomen and stomach had to be opened. After that, she was doing well until last Saturday. She bravely wore her bodysuit and recovered very well. On Saturday, July 19, 2025, she suddenly vomited and developed subcutaneous emphysema. This means that air enters the cat, causing it to swell considerably, and its entire skin crackles. She had to be admitted to the emergency room again. On Monday, July 21, 2025, the doctor had us take her directly to the clinic in Neu Isenburg, where she was treated, just as on Tuesday. She was allowed to go home because they were able to release a lot of air there.

During the night of Wednesday, she developed mouth breathing, shortness of breath, and swelled up incredibly again. We took her to the clinic in Kalbach as an emergency at 2:00 a.m. Sunny was and remains in acute danger and is again admitted to the clinic in Kalbach.

An endoscopy and a CT scan were performed today, and they don't yet know where the air is entering her body. She has air in her lungs and abdomen and is currently lying in an oxygen tent with tubes that remove any incoming air. She has a drain to keep her lungs clear. Today's diagnosis is tension pneumothorax, which means air is entering between the lungs and the chest wall.

The previous surgery and treatment in Neu Isenburg cost €1,400, which I paid before this appeal. The invoices are attached as images as proof that Sunny underwent surgery and was in Neu Isenburg.

The problem now is the immense costs at the veterinary clinic in Kalbach, which will continue to rise. I don't have any invoices as proof of this yet, as Sunny is still an inpatient at the clinic and is receiving treatment. On Wednesday and Thursday, the costs for emergency services, X-rays, CT scans, and endoscopy amounted to approximately €4,000. In addition, according to the clinic, there are €600-700 daily costs for intensive care admission. Due to the immense costs of the past year with my deceased elderly pets, I can no longer afford the treatment in Kalbach, which means I would have to have them put down. Sunny is fighting for her life and she wants to live, and I can't afford to lose another animal.

In the worst case scenario, they will have to open the chest and see if the hole is in the lung. The entire treatment is incredibly expensive and no longer affordable for me. Since we unfortunately can't upload any more pictures, I'm happy to send the receipts for the last treatments by photo, if desired, including Sunny's.

Every euro counts, and my beloved Sunny and I are wholeheartedly grateful for every euro.

I always help wherever I can, whether animals or people, and I'm now asking for help myself.

Update from July 24, 2025

During a phone call with the clinic, I learned that Sunny is fortunately still stable. However, the air is still coming in, and not all of the CT images are available yet to determine where it's coming in. The air under the skin also needs to be removed because the skin is lifting, preventing proper blood flow and potentially dying.

Update:

After the clinic called again and said the images were in, we went there. The findings indicate a tracheal injury. Whether this happened during the first surgery is uncertain, but possible. Tomorrow, Sunny will have tracheal surgery, and we hope they can find and close the hole, allowing Sunny to recover. We were also able to visit her for a moment, which was wonderful... Now we're keeping our fingers crossed and hoping hard.

Sunny had a 2 cm hole in her trachea, very close to her ribcage. It would never have closed on its own. Luckily, they found it without having to open her chest. It was so close to her ribcage that the doctor actually saw it at the last moment, he said. "I'm so relieved. Now the stitches have to hold and it has to heal. She has to stay in intensive care for the next few days. The costs are currently exploding because of this, as a day in the hospital as an intensive care patient costs between €600-700 without the surgery. The clinic just called. Fortunately, Sunny is still doing well at the moment. She's lively considering the circumstances and ate something during the night, the first time since Wednesday when she had to be admitted. The air in the subcutaneous tissue has subsided somewhat, and they were able to remove the air from the chest; there wasn't much left. The next two days are still very critical, as the damaged skin in the trachea at the suture is likely loosening so that new tissue can grow. The suture must stay in place. They can't observe this via CT or endoscopy, but only by checking whether new air is flowing in. If it remains positive, they won't call again until Monday.

It's unbelievable for me, I can bring my Sunny home today. She's doing well so far and is demanding lots of cuddles from the hospital staff, the doctor said.

I'm deeply relieved and overjoyed that my girl can go home. I'll report back tonight when she arrives.
