Katyusha Needs Help to Survive SMA Type 1

Hello, my name is Liliya and I am trying to fundraise for Katyusha Zasukha who is suffering from SMA Type 1.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 is a severe debilitating disease that “appears at birth or within an infant's first six months of life. Infants with type 1 SMA have difficulty swallowing and sucking. They don't meet typical milestones like holding up their heads or sitting (Cleveland Clinic, 2021)”

Currently, FDA approved innovative gene therapies that give a hope for brighter future to people who suffer from SMA Type 1 and Type 2.

Zolgensma is one of these promising treatments was recommended to Katyusha Zasukha as an intravenous medication that’s intended to treat SMA in children under age 2 years. However, the treatment costs are extremely high and not affordable for an average Ukrainian family to be able to save their child’s life.
