Katy's trip to Mnene Parish
Donation protected

Our church, Good Shepherd Lutheran, in Raleigh, NC has sponsored a group of orphans in Mnene Parish, Zimbabwe for nearly 10 years. Over the years we have helped dozens of children who have been orphaned by the AIDS virus go to school. As part of this mission we contribute monetarily to the schooling of these children, and we communicate via letters with them as well. We've sent members to Mnene several times over the past decade and this summer another group will be traveling again. Katy, my 16 year old daughter, has been given the opportunity to join them on this mission trip. She will be the youngest member of our church to have this opportunity.

Our family has been writing with Rosemary (in the middle of the photo above) for the past 8 years. She was 13 when we first started writing with her, and now she is 21 and studying Cosmetology. The mission group will be bringing school supplies, clothing, toiletries and other necessities on this journey for the orphans to have as they continue their education. Katy will help plan outings and activities for the orphans while there. This is an incredible opportunity for her to see and experience a part of the world that she may not be able to otherwise. But it is a costly venture. Plane tickets, accommodations, food, etc, all have to be purchased. We would appreciate any contributions toward this. Any money collected above and beyond what is needed will be added to the Mnene fund at church to help support this mission. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider helping.
