** Katy Rogers the North Devon Celeb **

So you beautiful Katy Rogers made her big break on TV. BBC spotlight caught up with our Jolly at North Devon Hospice where she spoke about her love of tea cakes, coffee and the occasional subtle fat shaming shot of ‘Light Bites’ available. All jokes aside, Katy is a patient of North Devon Hospice now and is their new spokeswoman, so not only is she the angel and ambassador of Seamoor, she’s now repping the hospice too. Anyway I digress, all donations now come with a signed topless photo of Jolly sitting on a reindeer… that’s a lie, but to be fair if you asked I’m sure she’d oblige

** SHITTY UPDATE 03.06.25 **

Most of you will probably be aware that Katy has been doing her very best to combat every curve ball she has be dealt since being diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in October 2024 at 33 years old.

Her journey began with the hope that her tumour could be shrunk with chemotherapy and then removed surgically. Unfortunately, chemotherapy did not have the desired effect, and Katy's tumour doubled in size between October and March. Immunotherapy was another handy tool used to attack her cancer, however this caused her body to begin attacking itself and resulted in a very unhappy liver and hepatitis. Consequently, no more immunotherapy was allowed to avoid causing permanent damage.

It was then decided that surgery was the best option, followed by different chemotherapy drugs and radiotherapy to ensure any left over cancer would be "mopped up". Surgery seemed to be a success and scans showed no signs of lymph node involvement, and finally there seemed to be a light at the end of the tunnel. A CT scan was ordered as a precaution just to check that nothing was left behind, and to double check the nodes in her armpit.

Unfortunately, this scan showed swollen lymph nodes in Katy's chest and armpit, and some nodules within the lungs.

The oncology team said this looked convincingly like metastatic cancer and requested a PET CT and biopsies to confirm. Unfortunately, this has confirmed that Katy's breast cancer has spread, and she is now stage 4. Treatment will now change from curative, to controlling it for as long as possible, with no cure. Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive form of invasive breast cancer, which can often be resistant to treatment, leaving fewer options or available targeted therapies through the NHS.

Those who know Katy, will know she has a zest for life, and will not go down without swinging with everything she has got. With that in mind, she has been looking at contingencies and additional approaches to compliment her care plan produced by the NHS.

BUT, this all comes at a cost as it would have to be a an endeavour approached through private providers. Katy will be soon receiving no pay through employment due to long term sickness and accessing support from the government has so far not been entirely straight forward although she continues to try, in order to afford every day living costs.

This gofundme will help Katy access additional support to advocate for herself in a world which is inaccessible without enough money to fund it. Katy is not too proud to admit that without help from others, this will not be possible.

** UPDATE 12.03.25 **

Our awesome friend Katy has had her surgery to remove the cancer tumour in her boob - she’s still awaiting results to confirm it was a full success, but the surgron is optimistic.

Katy will next undergo more chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy treatment to ensure this is gone for good. Katy has gone down to half pay due to time off for treatment which is understandably a stress nobody needs, let alone someone fighting cancer - so any funds raised will be of a massive help and relieve some stress off her.

We’re team Katy, friend, family and general fans of Katy Rogers!

Most will know, but Katy recently got diagnosed with boobie cancer (breast or Invasive ductal carcinoma is far too serious) and she has been incredible with taking all this in her stride.. brave doesn’t even cover it!

We all know Katy will kick this the big C’s butt to the kerb, but in the meantime life is going to be a little bit challenging to say the least. So this is to make life a little bit easier, hopefully to give her something to look forward to after the long road of chemo and surgery.

However small or big, every contribution will be a massive help!
