July 20th our lives changed within a matter of just a few minutes when Katy was involved in a hit and run accident at the Chatham Sweet Corn festival in Chatham, Il.
Katy has been in the Army National Guard since 2000. She was promoted to the rank Staff Sergeant in 2016. She served a tour in Kabul, Afghanistan with the National Guard.
Katy was found unconscious, but breathing in a parking area behind the main stage. Katy remains in critical condition at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Il. She has 2 fractures in her neck, a broken scapula, broken collar bone, 8 broken ribs, she remains sedated and on a ventilator. Unfortunately during surgery they found Katy's pelvis to be shattered on the right side of her hip and she will need a hip replacement within the next few days. Katy has a long road to recovery, but she is a rockstar!!
