Kat's Bounce Back Fund

Hi all,

As some of you know I narrowly jumped out of the burning car seen in this cover photo.
This car belongs to my ex-partner and good friend Kat. Kat ended up hurting her knee badly while at work to the extent of needing surgery as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the workman's comp claim denied her aid and left her little choice but to move home to Florida to go be with her family while she gets the surgery to recover physically, mentally, and financially.
It broke my heart to see her have to move back home under such circumstances, and with her limiting injury, I offered to drive her car and her personal things back home to Florida for her.
Yesterday, June 13, 2022, while en route to Florida through Arizona the car without warning experienced two loud snap and popping sounds. This caused the cart the shake and swerve and debris to fall from under the car. At this point of seeing the car pieces fly behind me, I noticed flames coming from the rear underside of the car and quickly spreading up the left side where the gas cap was housed and up into the back seat. At this point, I tried to pull off and realized the brakes were no longer functioning and pulled the E brake and drifted the car until it was at a speed I could jump from as the flames were engulfing directly behind me at the gas tank area. I shot from the car and ran and the car exploded about 60 seconds later. I was lucky enough to only take some of the fire singing me on my leg and back of my neck.
Kat lost all of her personal belongings. Clothes, camera equipment, medical records, personal effects, family photos; and I lost my work laptop, phone, all my training equipment (again), all my competition axes, Nintendo switch, and clothes I packed for my trip. This was a horrible scenario then made worse today when her insurance informed her that her policy had no fire damage coverage and they will not be able to assist at all.

With hit after hit it is unfair and a horrible scenario and with no aid from workman's comp or insurance she deserves some help to mitigate the hurt and loss I want to ask my friends and all you fine folk to lend a hand however you can. And even if you cannot give money if you can reach out to her and see if you can help with the replacement of anything she lost I would be deeply appreciative.

When it rains it pours and sometimes you need a friend with an umbrella or two.

Thank you all,

Nicholas
