In the midst of planning our wedding, our world took a different direction. Katryna was admitted to the ER for numbness, weakness and headaches. She was told at St. Mary's in Apple Valley that she needed urgent tests because a mass was found in her brain. She was rushed to Arrowhead Regional in Colton for further testing. The doctors were stumped. She is young, appears healthy, is so vibrant and full of life. We were then transferred to St. Jude's Hospital in Fullteron. During the next week she would be tested for everything from infection to cancer. Finally, on April 6th 2017, she was diagnosed with a rare and incurable Stage IV stomach cancer. They told her that the cancer spread to her reproductive organs, neck and had 4 masses in her brain. We know that this is going to be a journey and the doctor's said this would be a marathon that we cannot sprint through. The road ahead will be trying, but we have alot of support, love and strength to get us through this journey. Treatments begin today, starting with radiation on the brain for the next ten days. Chemo will begin at the end of this month. During this time, Katryna is not able to work and will be home to focus on healing.
