In 2013 I decided to try using hormone-based birth control pills as a method for treating my cystic acne. My body had a severe adverse reaction and I got the worst case of acne my dermatologists had ever seen as a result. Although it has been several years since this happened and I have taken the medical steps necessary to address the condition, I am left with visible scarring. Insurance companies are unwilling to pay for correction because it is considered a cosmetic procedure at this point. I have been quoted at around $2,500 for laser scar treatment, which will diminish - but not entirely erase - the marks. A reduction in my scarring would help my self esteem as I move forward in society and in my career. Please consider helping me reach this goal.
