Katrina & Gabriel fire relief

On August 12th our apartment caught fire from a candle. The apartment was filled with decorations as Katrina was making final preparations for her upcoming wedding. The decorations and our personal belongings fueled the fire to grow beyond control in little time. Katrina went into the fire twice trying to save her pets. The second time she braved the fire, the power went out as the room filled with smoke and heat. Katrina became disoriented and could not find her way out of the small apartment. She sustained serious burns as her adrenaline and love for animals led to disregard for her own safety. While her beloved dogs did not make it, we are beyond thankful that Katrina did.

Katrina has been in the burn unit at Regions hospital for about two weeks. She had skin grafting done to her hands and arms. Katrina and Gabriel have moved their upcoming wedding to next year to give them time to repair and rebuild themselves physically, emotionally, and financially. As a dog groomer, it will be some time before she can return to work.  Gabriel has missed work to be with Katrina.  We are raising funds to help them during this difficult time.
