Dear community of loved ones, our friend is in need of help. Out of nowhere a health tragedy has struck. Katrin needs our support looking forward. Vic wrote to me how all of this unfolded below:
A week or so ago, Katrin noticed a bit of loss of energy, which then became loss of motor skills while trying to make her cloisonne pieces for her upcoming Art Shows. I got home early Monday, from my show in Jupiter at 1:30 am and everything was normal. We had a great day, bike ride with our Bernese/shepherd mix, I grilled Katrin's favorite grouper and went to bed. At 4:30 am, Katrin woke with a strong muscle spasm & seizure! I called 911 and carried her downstairs, she could not walk. In the ER the seizures continued and became stronger. The doctor ordered a head scan where they saw an abnormality. They gave her an anti seizure drug which stopped the seizures, thank heavens! After 3 MRI's and 3 CT scans they confirmed 3 tumors on right side of her brain. These caused the seizures and loss of use and feeling in her left arm and leg and the vision of the left eye. With anti inflammatory and anti seizure drugs some of that has come back.The CT scans also showed a nodule on her lung. Neurologist think the brain tumors may have come from the lung cancer. The biopsy will tell us if that's the case and which type of cancer it is. The treatment plans are waiting the biopsy.
We have started canceling our art shows. Katrin is strong and positive, but we are scared to death. She has always lived a clean positive life, no beef or pork, enjoys yoga, bike riding, scuba diving and creating her award winning jewelry.
