Katie's Recovery: Help a Mom and Her Kids
Donation protected
Hey, this is Marny!
UPDATE from Katie 5/5: This has been one hell of a ride. Turns out I'm more sick than what they originally thought.
Tricare has turned to crap since everything and my medical bills PER treatment are close to 1000.00 and my appointments each time are
800. It's getting to the point I can't even afford to stay alive. Anything helps as I will be having 3 procedures this month (2 exploration diagnostics, and 1 biopsy) I also have a swallow study, massage therapy (one of the ONLY things that is helping me right now) routine labs, and today after meeting with my interna medicine doctor for 2 hours I now have 2 more specialties added and more imaging needed
I am drowning in medical bills, childcare expenses, basic life expenses.
I can no longer drive (if you are wondering why there were so many cops, fire trucks and ambulances along 2700 w heading south towards 3200 a few nights ago that was me completely seized and paralyzed in the middle of the road) and will be selling my car (or offering to have someone take over the payments and switch to their name) which hopefully will help some. I have a supportive family but my mom is also having medical issues and recent surgery.
Sorry for the long post, but anything helps
Original post: On January 19th, 2025, my lifelong best friend, Katie, experienced a life-changing injury while visiting friends and family in Arizona. While on a trail run, she fell, hitting her head hard on the rocks.
She suffered a Grade 3 severe concussion that surpassed the general recovery period and has left her with many serious health concerns. She’s currently receiving treatment for severe physical, cognitive, sleep, and emotional impairments due to the concussion and subsequent neck injury, as well as other complicated health issues. Doctors stated she is currently incapable of caring for herself or others and requires significant assistance from others.
She was originally out of work for 2 weeks while receiving treatment and recovering. After attempting to return to work, she was advised it would be best for her to be placed on medical leave (FMLA) for the duration of her recovery.
She is currently undergoing neuropsychological treatment, vestibular therapy, neurosurgery, and physical therapy.
Katie is a single mom of 2 absolutely adorable little girls (a 3-year-old and an 18-month-old) who she loves and adores. She’s supported by very generous and caring parents who have been able to help care for her and her daughters while she continues treatment.
I’m hoping to raise enough to help her with her monthly expenses, medical care, and child care until she is able to get back to work – which, if all goes well, is estimated to be around April 2025.
