My OVER DUE update to my family & Friends:
First off; thank you everyone for the well wishes, check-ins, concerns, prayers & genuine love. To make a long story short, I experienced my miracle this past week. After 25 years as a Type 1 Diabetic, 5 years on the National Registry for Pancreas Transplant… One week ago, today of I got my “Miracle call!”
The past 5 years have been an emotional rollercoaster for myself and my family. We had 13 “close calls,” 4 trips to Rochester- all to find I was not a perfect match. I am very sensitized- meaning I have high antibodies (99.9%)- I am not compatible with pretty much everyone but my miracle person. These false alarms- false hopes tested my inner soul, my personal strength and my overall faith.
On 9-28-18 I got the “Miracle Call.” This call was different, it felt different. We left our home in disarray immediately and headed to Rochester. We were immediately admitted, and then we waited 15 plus hours. I still didn’t know until the early hours of the morning with the final cross match. Then the doc came in at 4:30 a.m. and said it’s a GO! Then panic set it. HOLY MOLY this is happening!
I was off to sleep in seconds and the surgery was approx. 5.5 hrs. Waking up was emotional and almost unreal. At that moment, I realized how fortunate I was and vowed that this “Panc” was going to live on and I was going to provide a special place within me for “Panc” to live on!
Lots more to come…
I’m putting this out there one time (for it’s a bit of an ego blow) one can never be to prepared for something this HUGE. So, attached is my GoFundMe link. Any little bit helps.
Here’s a few pics of my first week.
