Katie's London Grad School

My name is Katie, and I’ve been blessed to have been accepted at the University College of London in their graduate program in history to pursue my dream of working in a world-class museum. I need financial assistance for this incredible opportunity that begins in September 2021.

The University College of London is one of the top 15 colleges in the world, and I’m so excited about going to grad school in such a great city! While I'm very proud of this accomplishment, I’m more proud of the fact that I've been able to do this in spite of being diagnosed with a brain tumor at age four and undergoing eight surgeries over the past 20 years.

I’ve had to work very hard for the academic results I've achieved, and graduated cum laude from Kennesaw State University. This was despite missing class time including some of finals week due to being in the hospital. While I was in school, I was active in a service sorority and was a fundraiser for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF).

In addition to learning to persevere through several obstacles, my parents instilled the importance of a strong work ethic. I’ve worked to earn money since middle school, and have done jobs such as nannying, pet sitting, working at the front desk of a hotel, and in a museum. I earned scholarships, including an academic scholarship from the PBTF all four years of my undergraduate schooling, to help pay my way through college. I've scrimped and saved wherever I could. Between the approximately $35,000+ UCL tuition and a minimum of $20,000-30,000 in living expenses I'll incur in London, I'm at least $25,000 short. I'm asking for you to please help me offset my grad school expenses at the University College of London.

I'm leaving for London in mid-September 2021. I can't tell you how much I appreciate any donation you can make. My lifelong dream has been to work in a world-class museum such as the British Museum of Natural History, the Smithsonian, or the Louvre, and your help will make my dream a reality.
