- Hi, my name is Katie and I am raising (hopefully) funds to help cover some of my rising medical costs. In July of 2024, I ended up having my right leg amputated above the knee. My stump healed pretty well, and I was going to be fitted for my prosthetic when I had an abscess develop on my right inner thigh that required surgery. Getting my prosthetic was put off until that healed. It is finally healed, and I am about to embark on my new journey with getting my prosthetic and learning how to walk again. Due to my medical issues since November, I have only been able to work 16 hours a week, which thankfully has paid the medical premiums so we could keep our coverage but has not really allowed for anything else, meaning we are unable to pay our mortgage and medical bills coming in. Luckily, we have been able to keep the power on! My portion for my prosthetic is $6,000.00, which is a lot of money.
