Katie's journey back to health

Hey angel faces. Most of you know me as Katie's punk ass little sister, Phoebe. I would like to fill you guys in on a few things, since me and her kinda fell off the map for a bit. Last year around the end of june, Katie found a lump in her chest. She went through all of the medical hoops, and was unfortunately told she had invasive duct breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy about 2 weeks after her initial diagnosis. After that, life went on for a bit and one thing after another seemed to get in the way of her being able to start any type of treatment. Fast forward to about a month ago. She began having a pain in her chest, which she assumed was a pulled muscle because to her, the pain felt muscular. Then the pain got worse and led to shortness of breath. Then she began having extreme pain in her back, which she thought was a kidney infection because she has always been prone to them. She went to urgent care and they told her she was dehydrated and to drink water and she would be fine. Fast forward again, about 10 days later, and she could no longer walk across the room without almost passing out due to the pain and shortness of breath, so insert me, taking her to the hospital, where she stayed for over a week, quickly getting moved to the oncology ward, because they unfortunately found spots on her spine during her CT scan and feared the worst. Turns out, they got about 20 oz of fluid out from under her left lung, thats where her chest pain and shortness of breath was coming from. They also found the spots on her spine were inside of her spinal bones. They also found between 2 MRI's, more lesions inside of her chest walls, spots in the bones in her chest, and spots in her hip bones. So, what was originally breast cancer, and something that we had hoped had all been gotten with the mastectomy, has devastatingly spread to her bones. All of this has happened within the short months since she had her mastectomy in July of 2023. All of this has come out of left field and was absolutely not anything we could have expected. It's a nightmare. She has already started radiation treatment, and will continue to go down whatever avenue of treatment is necessary to fix this. Everyone who knows us, knows that me and my sister are each others worlds. She is my everything, and there is no possible way I could survive this life without her. She also has 2 children she has to be here for. She obviously cannot work right now during her treatments, and she is the sole provider for her daughter. I am making this to ask for any amount of help possible. If you know my family, you know we dont ask for help. We are stubborn bred and feel that if we cant get it ourselves, we must not need it too bad. But we arent too proud. And this is one of those situations we have never experienced before, and a time we never thought we would be in. So, I come to you all with a desperate plea for help. Anything is needed, and appreciated more than we could ever put into words. Please help make this a bit easier by Katie not having to stress about finances on top of everything else. She needs to solely focus on getting herself better right now. We still have so many plans together that we WILL do, because we are going to fight this, and win. We love and appreciate you all so so much, and truly thank you for any amount of help you can offer.
