Katie Skillin's Road to Recovery

As most of you already know, on March 10th, our dear friend Katie was involved in a tragic incident where she suffered a gun shot wound to her head. After her injury, Katie spent three weeks in shock trauma and she was recently moved to an acute rehab facility.
I am in contact with Katie's mom, Fran every few days to check in on her progress. Katie is alert and fully aware of her surroundings and is getting stronger every day. Though she has made truly remarkable improvements in just a few short weeks, Katie has a long road to recovery. In rehab, she will be be working with speech therapists to improve her communication skills and occupational therapists to help her regain the use of the right hand side of her body.
There is no doubt our Katie is a fighter! She is resilient and determined to get back to being an amazing mom to her daughter Aubrey. Her strength and courage amazes all of us every day.
First and foremost we ask that you continue to send your love and prayers to Katie. She will need those prayers and support in the months ahead. Our girl is strong but the prayers and support from her loved ones will only make her stronger.
