Katie Needs Us: Overcome Cancer's Costs

Hi, my name is Heather Lasater, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my beautiful sister, Katie, who was recently diagnosed with invasive squamous cell carcinoma—a serious and aggressive form of cancer. She’s facing this diagnosis with incredible strength and courage, but the financial burden of treatment has quickly become overwhelming. I’m reaching out to ask for your help.

Katie is an important provider for her family, and her income plays a major role in keeping her household stable. With frequent appointments for scans, treatments, and specialist visits—many of which are scheduled or changed at the last minute—she’s had to take significant time off work. Sadly, Katie has already used all of her paid time off, so every missed day now means lost income.

In addition to lost wages, Katie is facing the growing costs of:

Co-pays for doctor visits, lab work, and cancer treatments

Prescription medications critical to her care

Transportation to and from appointments

Unexpected medical and household expenses

Katie has always been a devoted mother, sister, and friend—someone who shows up when others are in need. Now, she needs us to show up for her.
