Katie Kobin's Medical Expenses

Hello, my sweet niece Katie Kobin and her beautiful wife Kenna Kobin-Campbell were tragic victims of an accidental carbon monoxide poisoning on September 29th. Katie has lost her soulmate and has been fighting for her life this past week and will continue to do so for some time. We are not sure when she will be able to return home, but she will have one kitty there to come home to. She lost two dogs and another kitty to the accident as well. I've spent this morning reading the moving and emotional tributes being posted on Kenna's social media. She was deeply loved and touched so many people in so many different ways, it's almost hard to imagine what she could have accomplished had she had more time with us here on earth. But I know that she loved and chose Katie above all. It's hard to bear when I think how Katie will struggle through this emotionally, but the added burden of her medical debt is almost insulting. At this time, we're looking at over $500,000 in medical related expenses. Katie is a smart woman and had elected additional insurance benefits, but they will barely touch this enormous liability. Katie and Kenna had a lovely home in Lenexa, and we look forward to the day when Katie and her cat Tommy can return to it. It is hard to say when Katie will be able to return to any level of employment as CO poisoning often has long-term effects. Any amount you can sacrifice at this time will help Katie pay towards her medical debt and hopefully keep her home as she heals and struggles to become whole once again.
