Deaf Women’s Soccer Team Player, Athlete, Advocate
Hello, I’m Katie Day, a 30-year-old soccer player with the honor of representing Australia on the Deaf Women’s Soccer Team. Soccer has been my lifelong passion, shaping who I am both as an athlete and as an individual. I began playing at a young age in local clubs, and each milestone has brought me closer to fulfilling my dream of competing for Australia on the international stage.
I was born with profound deafness due to Enlarged Vestibular Aqueduct Syndrome, and I’ve relied on hearing aids since I was 2. In June 2023, I took another step forward by receiving a Cochlear Implant. Despite the challenges, my love for the game and my unwavering determination to succeed have always pushed me forward.
In 2024, I received the incredible privilege of being selected to represent Australia on the Deaf Women’s Soccer Team. This achievement marked a milestone moment in my athletic journey, and I’ve been training relentlessly ever since. For the past 15 years, I’ve proudly played for my community team, Bulli Women, where I’ve learned invaluable lessons in hard work, resilience, and the power of teamwork. Alongside my playing career, I’ve also had the joy of coaching junior soccer at the local club level, passing on my passion and knowledge of the game to the next generation of players.
A key highlight in my journey came in December 2024, when I had the life-changing opportunity to play my first international match against the Japan National Team. It was an unforgettable experience that deepened my passion and commitment to the sport. Now, I am preparing for the Deaflympics in Tokyo in November 2025, eager to represent Australia on the global stage.
The path to competing internationally comes with significant expenses—travel, training, and competition costs—which is where I need your support. Every donation helps cover these essential expenses, enabling me to focus on my preparation and give my best performance in the upcoming Deaflympics.
Your support is everything to me—it fuels my passion and pride in representing our country. Thank you for being a part of this amazing journey and for helping me showcase the strength and determination of deaf athletes to the world.
