Hi to Katie's community: her family and friends, admirers and trusted people.
As many of you know we lost Katie suddenly this week. Kristen, Frank, Brendan and Hayden appreciate all of the kind words, generosity, shoulders to cry on and memories that folks have shared so far. I know that her aunties, uncles and grandparents also appreciate the outpouring of love that has come forth.
Understandably, this is an overwhelming and uncertain time for the family. We aren't sure if there will be a funeral for Katie, or if instead we will organize a celebration of life in both her island home in BC which she loved dearly, and back in Ontario where Katie was born and her French roots remain.
With that being said, this GoFundMe is an opportunity for Katie's large community to support her family in the uncertain time and come together to help fund costs associated with her celebration of life, organization of her belongings and tending to family expenses and access to easy meals while Kristen and Frank navigate these next few weeks.
There are 2 ways we're asking for folks' support, with no expectations and all of the appreciation in the world:
- if you're able to contribute $5, $10, $20, $50 or any amount of money towards easing financial stress for the family at this time and creating a fund for Katie's celebration of life, that would be very helpful.
- If you can share a treasured memory of Katie (which we hope many do), we ask that you mail a written letter, or send one by email to me (Danielle) so I can organize these for Kristen and the family and we can have paper copies that the family can keep and engage with whenever they'd like.

Many of us unfortunately know how valuable these sharings are and I want the family to have the opportunity to treasure these happy and memorable moments as much as they'd like. Please feel free to include any pictures alongside, and I thank you all ahead of time for this effort and thoughtfulness.
