Katie and Atlas fund

Hi, my name is Makaleigh and I’m fundraising for my nephew Atlas and my sister, Katie.

3 days ago, my 5-year-old nephew Atlas got sick unexpectedly with a fever and then over the next couple days his legs basically just stopped working.

For those of you who don’t know Katie and Atlas closely, I want to share that Atlas has a condition called Alopecia. It is an auto-immune disease that essentially causes his body to recognize his hair follicles as dangerous and destroys them, causing hair loss. While this isn’t the worst condition on its own, because of the medications he takes to fight this issue, it makes his immune system overall weaker and he can get sick much more easily. Unfortunately, although vaccinated, he contracted covid sometime in the last week or two, which we were obviously all unaware of. In just four hours, he went from having cold-like symptoms, to not being able to stand on his own. They immediately went to the hospital and were transferred to Riley. They have been doing a lot of tests and unfortunately have no real answers yet.

This GoFundMe is in hopes of helping them with any financial stressors they’re facing while going through this difficult time. My sister will be driving a long distance back-and-forth between the hospital and seeing her other child, and gas alone is costing hundreds of dollars a week to be able to do that, and we have no idea how long her son will be in the hospital.
