Katie adopt an ADA certified Service Dog
Donation protected
Hello, friends. This is my first time setting up a GoFundMe or similar fundraiser, but I didn’t know where else or how else to help my sister, Katie. Let me start by stating that she is not aware of me doing this and more than likely will be overwhelmed by it. But I need to try.
Katie needs a service dog for medical reasons that I will keep private for now as I do not have her permission to share. She adopted a dog a few months ago and began training with intensive training starting this week. However, the pup passed away tonight from Valley Fever - a problem for puppies in Arizona. She is devastated and grieving currently for her puppy. It has been a rough night.
While the pup was a part of the family, even for a short period of time, she was to serve a big purpose. My goal is to help adopt a properly trained service dog for Katie. The issue, however, is they are typically around $15,000 or more as they require extensive training. As much as I would love to run out and get her a service dog, the price is too hefty for my pockets.
Why get an already trained dog? While she intended on having her pup fully trained, it proved to be nearly impossible without having a full time trainer, which would also cost around 10k. Having a trained dog will allow her to feel immediate protection without the added stress of starting from scratch.
As everyone is struggling financially right now, I do not expect anyone to donate - but simply ask if you would consider if you are so obliged and have the means. Please do not feel any obligation, whatsoever. I know there are many fundraisers out there with much more pressing concerns. I just feel I need to at least try my best to get Katie a proper service animal.
I know asking for 10k is a huge ask. And quite frankly, I don’t expect it to happen because it is such a big ask. Therefore, if it doesn’t happen to work out, I promise to refund everyone’s donation. If it does work out and we are able to use the donations towards a service animal, I want to say in advanced - THANK YOU.
Those of you who know Katie know she never asks for anything, so I can certainly say she will have no words to express her gratitude. I hope to make this possible for her but I know I cannot do it without help. I would be extremely grateful for any help from you. After a devastating night for her, my hope is to simply help make this process more of a possibility.
If you are willing to donate, thank you so very much. I cannot express my gratitude enough. But also, please feel no obligation to donate. Thank you for any consideration and have a great rest of your week.
Please contact me, Chris, if you have any questions at all! DM or text me and I will be happy to answer anything.
