Kati Hedden's Lahaina Fire Recovery

When we heard there was a fire in Lahaina, our only relief came from knowing my sister, Kati, was safe.

After Kati received the invitation to sail from Lahaina to San Francisco almost a year ago, she decided to take a semester-long break from teaching 8th grade English at Lahaina Intermediate School to pursue her life goal. She said goodbye to Lahaina Wednesday, August 2nd on a 34-foot sailboat with a crew of four not realizing the finality of that goodbye.

On Tuesday, August 8th, along with the entire historic town of Lahaina, Kati’s condo, which she bought in 2021, burned. All her possessions, aside from her car and some essential documents luckily salvaged by a family friend (Tate), burned along with the condo.

She lands in San Francisco at the end of August, so in the meantime, we are ensuring she has some resources to return to. Your donations will go directly towards clothing, housing, bills, and other necessities in these coming months.
