In Memory of Kati Demaree
Donation protected
At 1pm, Kati was found unresponsive and unfortunately passed away peacefully in her sleep (suspected sleep apnea; however, a formal autopsy will be conducted). Kati was a beloved Mother, Daughter, Sister, cousin, and an amazing friend. Kati always had a smile, a positive vibe, and lit up the room with her presence. Unfortunately, Kati was down on her luck and didn’t have any funeral or end of life preparations. If you knew Kati, she was picking up her pieces trying to get by - trying to better herself for her sweet daughter, Santana, the absolute love of her life. Kati was on an amazing and positive path. She worked the night before, came home, went to sleep on the couch and just didn’t wake up - just days before her birthday. While we all loved Kati Colleen Demaree, may we not forget that she leaves behind a beautiful 16 year old daughter who will have to finish out her life without her mommy. This will be a long road ahead. Any donations beyond funeral expenses, will go directly towards the care of Santana (her father and I will discuss the best use of these funds for her needs, whether immediate or future). Santana would like to have an open casket service as a way to say goodbye and then she wants to have her mother cremated to save on costs.
Santana is one of the most loving humans, with the best hugs, who really will be suffering over this loss.
Anything you can spare, even just sharing the post, is appreciated.
Kati planned on attending her 25th class reunion this coming June. She was a 1999 graduate of Beech Grove High School.
Mandy Lundsford and myself will be going to funeral homes to find the most affordable, with dignity, and presenting the options to Kristi and Janda (Kati’s sisters), her brother Ed, as well as Santana and her father. We will update everyone as soon as we know arrangements.
