My mom was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. Within a matter of two weeks, she was diagnosed, hospitalized, and underwent surgery to have a mass removed from her colon. After two short weeks of her surgery, she was again hospitalized due to an infection from a leak that was causing her to become very sick. We were not at all prepared for this diagnosis.

If you know my mom, you know she is the most selfless person on this planet. At the time my daughter was due to be born, my mom had a colonoscopy scheduled to see why she was having so much pain. She cancelled her appointment just to guarantee she would be there for my labor and my daughters birth. She took two weeks of vacation to help me with the baby as her dad worked. She stayed up with me night after night, cleaned my room, did my laundry, and made sure I was fed and taken care of as I recovered, regardless of how much pain she was in. Little did we know, a mass was growing and blocking her entire colon.

My mom is always taking care of everyone around her. Not only is she an amazing dispatcher who strives to help others, but is also an active peer support team member. She is the person everyone goes to when they need a shoulder to cry on or a hand to pick them up when times are tough, friend, family, or stranger. If you need her, she’s there, no matter where you are or what time of day it is.

As people have needed the support of my mom, my mom now needs the support of people. My mom is too humble to have anyone support her so I am creating this account on her behalf to help her as she helps others.
