FIGHTING LIKE A GIRL-KATHY SHEETS
My name is Lisa and I am just one of the many supporting Kathy, at the age of 47, as she begins her breast cancer journey.
Here is Kathys story-straight from her heart:
For the last 30 plus years, my mind has often been plagued by thoughts of, "when will it happen to me?" With a strong history of breast cancer in my family; losing my mother, my sister and my niece to cancer, there's never really been any doubt that someday, it WOULD be me. Last week, that reality came with a ferocious blow.....and I no longer have to wonder, my journey with breast cancer has begun.
I know that God has always had a plan for my life and I've tried very hard to trust that He will never lead me through something that I cannot endure. If I were to tell you that I am not scared, or worried about it, I'd be lying, but, I'm trying to have faith.
Please, if you will, I'd appreciate your thoughts and prayers for myself, my children and family.
The diagnosis is stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma. Kathy is currently at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester with her daughter Mackenzie and her brother Tim. The lumps under her arm, in between her breast and under her ribs caused concern with the Radiologist so she had another biopsy today. These results will be back on Friday. They are trying to get a PET scan scheduled for her while she is there. She will have five to six months chemotherapy in Rapid City. She has a follow up consultation at Mayo on January 4th.
Kathy is a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and dear friend. Her son Stephen nailed it when he said "My mother is a fighter, physically, mentally and emotionally...a fighter."
Your donation will assist with medical bills, travel expenses and every day expenses while Kathy is having treatment/surgery etc. There are no resources for her while she is on Family Medical Leave.
Thank you so much for your generous donation, support, encouragement and prayers. Your generosity makes all of this possible and will allow Kathy to focus on healing her body from this dreadful disease.
