Kathy’s Lung Rehab

Hello everyone! As many of you already know, my mom, Kathy, was just hospitalized for pneumonia and collapsed lungs. She spent 2 weeks in the hospital. During the 2 weeks that she was in the hospital and for a short time prior to that due to illness, my mom hasn’t been able to work, nor did she receive any paid time off from her job. My mom does not know when she will be healthy enough to resume working. In the meantime, she will not have a work income of any kind. She is not eligible for paid time off and any kind of disability payments because she works as a per diem nurse. Beyond not having a current income, my mom will also have weeks if not months of medical bills. Paying for her stay there, along with all the doctor fees and diagnostic testing, will cost a great amount of money.

Furthermore, my mom’s journey is not finished. She has a condition that is causing her lungs to collapse and they are not sure of the cause yet. My mom is very deconditioned and even the act of walking for a few minutes is very difficult for her. She has a long journey ahead to get back to health. My parents need help paying for upcoming appointments, much more diagnostic testing, pulmonary rehab, and a second opinion at Penn in hopes that they will be able to help her. This will require a lot of out of pocket expenses. My dad is trying the best he can to help supplement her lost wages but this will be difficult to accomplish.

Anyone that knows my mom knows she would do anything for anyone. She’s an extremely humble person that gives much more than she ever takes. She has worked hard my whole life to provide for my dad, sister and myself. It’s our turn to help provide for her. Please prayerfully consider donating either monetary funds and/or prayers to our Heavenly Father, who has and will continue to sustain our family through this difficult time.
