My mom Kathy Burns is a 4 organ transplant recipient. On November 21, 2010 Kathy was given a second chance at life by recieving a new pancreas, duadnum, stomach, and small intestine. In total, she has had over 40 major surgerys within the past 9 years, including the removal of many major organs. Leading up to her transplant she was unable to eat regular food and was put on a feeding tube for nutrition to keep her alive. After the transplant she was diagnosed with cancer of the adrenal gland, cauing her to have a major setback in her recovery.
She became extremely ill in 2013 and was put on life support and needed to be airlifted to a hospital in Pittsburgh where she first revieved her transplant. Since then her condition has been more stable until Tuesday May 17 2016, when she was brought back to the hospital and is currently in ICU in Mercy Medical Center. The doctors believe she is battling organ rejection and will most likely be airlifted once again back to the hospital in Pittsburgh or brought to Coloumbia Hospital in NYC.
My dad Brian has not been able to work and has traveled with my mom everywhere as her caregiver, creating a difficult financial situation for my family. It is very difficult on a monthly basis to pay our bills and maintain our situation. Amoung many things, we pay over $2,000 a month for medical health insurance alone and we are eventually facing foreclosure on our house.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated and help my mom and dad with bills here and in Pittsburgh. We appreciate all the help and generousity that we have recieved and continue to recieve. Throughout this long rough journey my mom has been through, it would not have been made possible without the major support of many kind people. Through all my mom has been through she continues to have an amazing outlook on life. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any donation, no matter the size. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated and a huge help to my family.
