Kathy Howard, our mom, was long battling an illness that had no name to us until three months ago in September. For months she had medical issues with her muscles, speech and mobility. It took many doctor visits and hospital stays before Doctors were able to give her a diagnosis.  ALS or more widely known as Lou Gehrig’s. This disease made her a prisoner in her own body. It took her ability to speak, swallow, move and in the end to breathe. She was so brave and always remained positive throughout.  We never expected that it would progress as fast as it did. She spent months in and out of hospitals and rehab facilities. One of her last wishes was to be at home around family. We were able to bring her home under hospice care last Friday. My mom was home only 9 days before she lost her courageous battle on December 15 surrounded by family.

Kathy was the most wonderful mother and doting Granny of 13 grandchildren. An angel on earth who graced many people’s lives with her selfless giving, her kindness and smile. Even when she had very little she would still give. She brought a lot of happiness to everyone around her. Our lives are all a little brighter and our hearts are a little fuller having known her.

We have opened this GoFundMe page for anyone that would like to help financially with the costs of her cremation, plot, burial and headstone. There is no amount too small or unappreciated.  Any excess funds raised will be donated to our local ALS Chapter.
