Kathy was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Her prognosis is good and it was caught early which is not typical for this cancer but this has not been and will not be an easy fight. She will be in treatment for almost a year.
She has started chemo weekly while still working full time but she is no longer able to work. Not only are the side effects taking their toll on her body and her emotionally, starting next month she begins radiation five days a week along with chemo once a week for three months. Once she is done that, she will have surgery to remove the cancerous section of the pancreas. The whipple procedure she will have to endure takes five to six hours and can be quite extensive, depending on the size and spread of the tumor. After surgery, a hospital stay of about 10 days is usually needed, with another four to six weeks of recovery at home. Once she is through recovery, she will start weekly chemo again for three more months.
With Kathy unable to work, I am reaching out to friends and family to help her. She is a single mom of her beautiful daughter Allyson who is also in this fight for her mom's life. Anything you can give is beyond generous and will help to ease the extra anxiety and burden during this difficult time.
Kathy is like a sister to me, we have been together since the beginning and when she can't fight...I will fight for her and I hope you will help me in that fight!
Thank you All!
