Kathy Schmidt Memorial

On the morning of Friday, May 22nd, our beautiful and beloved Kathy passed away peacefully in her home. She joins friends, family, and many animals (specifically, cats!) in a bountiful garden at the best "seat" in the "house".

Kathy wouldn't want to call attention to herself, so we'll keep this write-up brief. But the legacy she left behind is too profound to ignore. 

For over half of her life, she dedicated her heart and soul to cultivating the potential of special needs students in two Minnesota school districts, in the cities of Lakeville, Eagan, and Rosemount. It was her passion. And it was felt by the hundreds of children and families she touched. Her unwavering, unconditional kindness and generosity for others was unparalleled; she never met a child she couldn't help (even with the most challenging of conditions or limitations). Her heart was the deepest, fullest well of infinite empathy for everyone she encountered—even strangers. This profession was her calling.

Because of the incredible footprint she left behind, we'd like to direct all memorials to the District 196 Foundation. This foundation directly supports the kids within the school district where Kathy last taught by providing food, musical instruments, and books for continued learning. (We hope to give some of the funds to the special ed program as well, if possible.)
