As many know, our mom, Kathy Long had brain surgery to remove a very large tumor on March 10. The tumor was removed and we are thankful for that. This is the latest update: She is still in ICU. We are past the first 24 hours. It was a difficult night as she is still struggling with some confusion and communication. This morning she was more alert, but unable to communicate. It was like she wants to talk, but couldnt. The dr did say this was not necessarily typical, but due to the very difficult surgery this was most likely a response to swelling. He reiterated several times how challenging the surgery was due to size of tumor. For now they are monitoring her and expect/hope to see her ability to communicate return as swelling goes down. They are also doing an EEG to get more insight. The dr did say she may be here a little longer than expected. Positive note: her vitals and mobility are good. She seems to be in little to no pain as well. She did tap her hand when I played ‘Nothing but the blood of Jesus’ by the Gathers in her room and other songs. We are continuing to take shifts to be with her. Pray for my dad as well. ❤️ God is faithful!
This fund is being set up for those who have wanted to send a gift of encouragement. Jim and Kathy’s church have helped them with some of the expenses and we are grateful for their generosity! This fund will be to offset any other costs as her length of care us growing and just to give Jim and Kathy some encouragement. Please do not feel obligated...we cherish your prayers more than anything, but if you were considering sending something to the hospital this would be a more practical way to help. Thank you! We will keep you posted ❤️❤️❤️❤️.
