Kathy Flynn Needs Your Help
Donation protected
We all know and love Kathy Flynn for her amazing spirit, sense of humor, and determination as she continues her battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She has been batting this disease for 19 years and has now arrived at a juncture which requires her to make a tough financial decision. The disease has slowly taken away her ability to live as independently as she always has for so long. Diagnosed in 2000, her Primary Progressive form of MS has impaired her body so that everyday tasks which most of us take for granted are becoming nearly impossible to manage.
Her struggles with MS have required the use of a cane beginning in 2003, to a walker in 2009, to a scooter in 2013. As she moves from one device to the next, she slowly loses more and more independence. Each device has its own limitations of where it is able to take Kathy. Just recently, Kathy lost her ability to load her scooter into her trunk of her van on her own. It was too difficult to manage with her lack of balance and lack of strength, and the time and effort it took was too draining.
Although there is no cure for Kathy’s MS, there is something which can help her regain some independence and love of life. We are asking you today to consider making a donation to help Kathy purchase a van which will be designed for her needs. This van will have a motorized wheelchair which can be driven directly into the driver’s seat. She will no longer need to rely on others. It will restore her independence and minimize the fatigue. Kathy has explored options to pay for this necessary upgrade but there are few. At a minimum, the cost will be $40,000. She would be forever in your gratitude for any consideration you may give to helping her manage this next step of her life.
