We are hoping to raise some funds to help this amazing family. We hope to help ease the burden of medical bills as well as allow Kurt to quickly get home to take care of his wife and spend her last days togther.

Here is their story...

Our Mom was diagnosed in November with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrigs Disease. It is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that causes muscle weakness, paralysis and ultimately respiratory failure. 

She is the mother of 6 adult children and 9 grandchildren. Her spouse of 41 years, our dad, is her primary caregiver. He works full time for Alpine School District at Westlake High school. 

Our mom is currently in a wheelchair and has lost the use of her arms and legs. Our dad has been amazing at caring for her. He has even learned to do makeup. He works close enough to home that he has been able to return home half way through his shift to see how she is doing.  He uses a camer on his phone to watch and monitor that she is ok throughout the day. As her condition progresses it is becoming more difficult for her to be home alone and due to insurance this is the only option available. Once dad leaves for work she must stay where she is until he gets homes. She is unable to go to the bathroom or eat or drink anything. She has been so tough and positive as she accepts the changes that are happening to her body and the circumstance that she is in. 

Dad is not far from retirement and we had hoped things would progress more slowly so that he could be home for her as things got worse. He is doing everything he can to keep mom comforatble and spend as much time with her while she is still with us. 

As we all go through our busy days of work as well, we can only imagine how much harder it is for our dad to accomplish everything that he does every day. We will continue as a family to spend as much time together as we can and enjoy every day we have left.
