I’m Jorjann, Alejandro’s mother-in-law, and I am organizing this GoFundMe for Alejandro and my daughter Kathryn. Their journey has reached a point where additional treatments, travel, and private consultations have created expenses beyond what they can manage alone. So many friends and loved ones have asked how they can offer support, and this fundraiser is the most direct way to ease some of that burden. Kathryn has shared their story below to provide more detail about what they’re facing. The initial goal may adjust over time as medical and travel expenses evolve. All support goes directly toward Alejandro's care. The GoFundMe tip is completely optional and can be set to $0.

As many of you are aware, my husband Alejandro was diagnosed at age 37 with early-onset, stage IV colorectal cancer in January of this year. Since then he has undergone colostomy surgery and 19 rounds of chemotherapy, which is keeping things stable at the moment. So far, all of his treatments and testing have been done within the public healthcare system here in Spain, meaning we've had very few out-of-pocket costs with the exception of medication and supplements. However, we've reached a point in this journey where we have started seeking other options at private hospitals/clinics, including consultations with specialists and complementary treatments. We are also starting to look into clinical trials, which require trips to hospitals in major cities like Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga, often necessitating overnight stays due to the distance from Granada. These expenses are not covered by universal healthcare.

Additionally, we recently moved in order to be closer to Alejandro's family. We were lucky to find a nice place just a short walk from them. However, as we also now live closer to the city and the hospital where Alejandro is being treated, the cost of living is significantly higher than where we lived before.

Many of you have asked how you can help, and up and until now I've only asked that positive energy/prayers be sent our way. But with these additional expenses, we know that the financial burden is going to add up quickly.
