Hi, my name is Kathleen & I’m raising funds to cover ongoing medical costs, and to get back on top of my physical health, mental health, housing and financial stability throughout ongoing cancer fighting treatment.
- On 14th Feb 2025 I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, I underwent a mastectomy with lymph node clearance, removing my entire right breast and 28 lymph nodes. The results showed the cancerous mass removed was 140x112x100mm and cancer was also present in 21 of the 28 lymph nodes removed from my right arm. Over the next 4 months I endured 16 rounds of intensive chemotherapy, throughout this time I was admitted to hospital 6 times due the harsh side effects of chemo, and also suffering a small stroke.
- Currently, I am being treated with ongoing oral chemotherapy to hopefully reduce the chances of the cancer returning, as statistically, the chances are high. I have ongoing appointments with my oncologist, psychologist, general practitioner, and physiotherapist. I am under close monitoring with the neurologist after suffering the stroke, I need to manage lymphoedema ongoing for life, and neuropathy as a permanent side effect of the chemotherapy.
- I am currently managing 3 days a week work, however nausea and fatigue from the oral chemotherapy have hindered my capacity to fulfil my 3 days of work consistently. This has left me financially strained, and not being able to cover general living & medical costs.
- I had been living with my father while undergoing treatment, and had to vacate suddenly due to escalating domestic violence from my brother, who resides permanently with our father, this has left me in a position where my living conditions are not suitable, especially while being immunocompromised with ongoing treatment.
