Kathleens Fight with Retinoblastoma - Go Kat Go!

Kathleen is the loving daughter to Mikayla Deal and Joe Kennedy and the spunky sister to Connor and Aiden. She is two years old, soon to be three, and has just been diagnosed with Retinoblastoma - an eye cancer that begins in the retina and if left untreated can spread into the brain and other parts of the body. Her cancer has been caught early, which gives hope that with the right treatments and chemotherapys' she will kick cancer's ass. There is still the concern of possible vision loss in her right eye and a chance that she could completely lose her eye during this fight.
Kayla and Joe first became concerned with Kathleens' eyes when she started having trouble focusing, especially in the car, this normally leads to her throwing up anywhere they went. Last year after a typical eye doctor's appointment Kathleen was referred to Hôtel Dieu. She was just seen on March 29th, because Covid-19 delayed their appointment. After a long day at the hospital and many tests, the doctor, and a specialist detected a spot in Kathleens' eye, she was immediately booked for an appointment at SickKids for the next day. At SickKids, after many more tests and many more doctors, Kathleen was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma Cancer.
The spot in her eye that was seen at Hôtel Dieu turned out to be a tumor. What started as a general concern turned out to be a parent's worst nightmare. They are waiting to hear back for an emergency MRI/EAU and Kathleen will be starting chemo as early as next week.
This diagnosis has required Kayla to take time off work to be there with Kathleen through her battle. Joe is counting to work to try to combat part of the financial strain this will ensue, however, he will have to miss some working days to be there for his family. They will be required to travel between SickKids and their home in Prince Edward County multiple times a week while Kathleen battles this cancer. We are raising money to give the family financial comfort during this fight, so they can focus on Kathleen's winning battle.
