When life gut punches you, you may fall, bounce back up, still a little shaky. But when life punches your friend/family, you catch your breath and get ready to beat an ass!
Our dearest Kathleen Espland Harris has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Therefore, we caught our breath and we build an army and get ready to beat an ass!
We would love for you to join Kathleen’s army during this journey. Kathleen does have medical insurance, however, the high copays, gas costs are indeed a hardship. While she has already had a couple visits, surgery and treatment are in place, she is currently disabled due to a knee injury and unable to drive. She will be attending therapy on top of her treatment appointments. Her husband Paul will be at her oncology appointments and is their only household income during this time.
Due to the nature of her illness, meals and visits are strongly discouraged at this time.
When I spoke with Kathleen about this, she felt horrible that “telling people is making them sad and I hate it”. She also said, “I don’t want anyone feeling sorry for me”. I explained it like this…
”The amount of love people have is why they are sad. They love you and hate to think of this journey FOR you. And while people like me, NEED to help, we need a way TO help. I make food, that’s out. Your need is currently monetary. So I WANT to donate, KNOWING I’m helping”.
Kathleen is overwhelmed and humbled. She is ready to fight and armed with an amazing team of doctors and nutritionists. During this time, she needs her friends. At her request, she doesn’t need advice to “fix” her. She’s got that. She does need prayers, humor, friends, loved ones. I request that no one share their cancer journey with her at this time, because her journey is overwhelming enough right now.
She remains positive, keeping her beautiful smile and kindest heart. Her sense of humor is still intact so funny jokes are also welcome
Thank you for your love and support
