Kathleen's Brain Surgery

Thank you for looking at this page, reading our story. Our mother, Kathleen Waddington, has been the glue that holds our family together and very recently has had some severe medical problems. On New Year's Day 2020 our Mom had a stroke caused by something called a Carvenoma Angioma. Basically, a bleed on her brain. She was taken to our local hospital who then sent her to a larger hospital in St George via ambulance, life flight, and another ambulance. They then flew her north to a hospital in Murray to look at her options.
She has been dealing with the symptoms from this angioma for several years now but up until recently it had been inoperable due to its location. This bleed, however, had grown and moved enough that the Neurosurgeons agreed that it was in a location to finally operate and remove it. Our Mom went in for the surgery on Tues Jan. 7th 2020. The surgery went well but sometime after surgery, Mom had another stroke. She has finally woken up after a fairly nerve wracking week and is starting to make minor improvements, opening one eye, small words, garbled noises, but every bit is a good sign. The next step is moving her to a rehab center for further therapies to get our Mom back as much as possible.
The downside to all of this is the medical bills are significantly piling up. Insurance only covers so much and between two ambulance trips, two flights, brain surgery, hospital stay and however long she will be in rehab, plus transportation, well it gets really expensive. Any little bit helps. It took us a while to decide to put this out there, we don't normally ask for help like this, but for our Mom and to continue getting her the best care possible we felt it was needed. Thank you, so much, from the bottom of our hearts.
