Kathi's Dream - Help Getner Barn

Getner Barn has been a beloved fixture in Norwalk for decades and has given a generation of Fairfield County children the joy of horses. Its mission is simple but powerful --to offer child-centered, hands-on horsemanship to every child, regardless of their family’s means.

Through its Wishes for Horses program, the barn has provided free lessons and summer camp to countless kids who might never have had the chance to ride.

Getner Barn has been more than a place to learn to ride; it’s been a place where young people could gain confidence, embrace responsibility, and learn kindness. For at-risk kids, it's been a safe haven where they can bask in the love of a horse.

It has survived as a working barn against the odds as the community around it steadily urbanizes.

The animating spirit behind Getner Barn has been Kathi Meenan. Anyone who has met Kathi knows that she carries the sun within her. Horsewoman, vet, mom, mentor, benefactor, and friend, Kathi has made her corner of the world a better place.

Kathi passed away August 12th after a brave three year battle with cancer. It was her lasting wish that her barn continue to be a place for kids and animals going forward.
