On April 4 my sister in law, Kathie, made a choice that saved her life.  It was a rainy morning, so she chose the newer, safer vehicle to shuttle my niece Sarah to school. Just minutes after dropping her off, an eastbound driver careened over the median, sideswiping Kathie, causing her to spin out of control and sail over the same median into oncoming traffic. She was then T-boned by a pickup truck. 

We are grateful that Kathie is alive, however she did not come out unscathed. Along with many bruises and lacerations, Kathie’s pelvis was broken in 6-7 places, and now has blood clots in her leg. She was recently moved from the hospital to a Rehabilitation Facility. The doctors say that full recovery is expected in 5-6 months.

The hospital bills are already mounting, and are expected to reach over $120,000. At this point it’s unclear what kind of coverage the at-fault driver, who is a convicted felon, may have. The urgent need is for a vehicle to replace their mini-van to transport Kathie back and forth to physical therapy once she is released from the rehabilitation facility. Would you consider helping them purchase a late-model used vehicle and to help offset the medical expenses?
