I am Katherine Almendarez, a current senior at School for Advanced Studies in Miami Fl. I was born and raised in a small city in Honduras until the age of 15 when I moved to the U.S.
As a first generation and undocumented student, I am humbled to have been accepted to several universities in this country since education is all I can offer my family.
I have been fortunate to receive scholarships to some of the schools, but they are just not enough to cover its cost of attendance. Therefore, I ask you to please donate anything you can to help me pay and receive my education.
I will love to pursue a Bachelors in Latin American Studies and attend Law School. As of now, I began working full-time as a Legal Assistant in a Law Firm to cover for my tuition. Also, I have served over 1,500 community service hours in my past 3 years in this country by working for those who need it. Whether by volunteering at an immigration law firm, debating at the senate, or founding Key to Knowledge, a non-profit organization that provides access to education to students in Honduras, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and other countries, I live to serve.
As a Questbridge finalist and Silver Knight winner, I also make a promise to thrive and represent the Hispanic Community wherever I go. Your help will completely change my life and fulfill my aspirations of continuing my education to help my family and my community.
I truly appreciate and value your help!
Thank you,
Katherine A.
