Katherine's life changing surgery
Donation protected
Hi , my name is Zoe and I'm fundraising for my best friend Katherine.
When katherine was 35 years old and had two small children she was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma cancer in her right leg. This diagnosis led to her having major surgery where her tibia was replaced with a titanium implant. For the past 5 years katherine has had constant serious infections in her leg and has also been in lots of pain, with times where she has struggled to walk. 2 years ago, Katherine underwent further surgery to try and clear the infection but sadly this was unsuccessful. The difficult decision has now been made to amputate her right leg to increase her quality of life.
Currently, katherine only has an upstairs bathroom and toilet. After the amputation this September this will be a huge struggle for her to manage daily. To maintain Katherine's independence post surgery a downstairs wet room / toilet would be beneficial and is something that katherine and her family would like to get done.
Katherine can apply for a grant to help fund this, if she is successful it will contribute to some of the costs, however katherine and her family will need to find a large amount of money themselves.
Therefore I have set up this fundraiser to help towards the cost. Money isn't something that katherine and her family should need to worry about at the moment. I know that a lot of people love and care for katherine like I do so can I ask you for a contribution to help make things a little bit easier for them.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read katherine's story.
