Katherine's Fearless Fight

 

Hi, my name is Herschell Vargas. I am the aunt of Katherine Odem. Katherine is 21 years of age and is the eldest child of my sister Reschell and her husband Marty Odem.

 

In June 2020, Katherine was hospitalized and was diagnosed with lupus nephritis. Everything got affected- her brain, kidneys, lungs and heart. She was stable for a year until she had another flare up last October 2021. Unfortunately, this time it was more severe. She was intubated for a whole week and her kidneys only function at a 10%.  We sincerely ask for your prayers and donations.  Please know that  every dollar raised will go towards Katherine’s  medical treatments, including doctor’s visits, dialysis, and future kidney transplant. 

 

She is currently being treated with a chemo drug and infusion has started. Every office visit costs $70 plus $50 per infusion. If her GFR doesn't improve, she will later need to start dialysis which will cost $500 per visit. In addition, Katherine is on the waitlist to receive a kidney transplant which will cost about $500,000. My sister and her family cannot afford and keep up on their own.
