One Act of Kindness Can Help Me Start Over

Hola, I’m Katherine. And life has just thrown me an unexpected curveball.

Right now, I’m trying to pick up the pieces and asking for your support to help me get back on track and rebuild after a traumatic event that rocked my world.

I had been out of town, supporting a close friend and her brand. When I returned home, the next 48 hours, Never have I ever would have imagined walking into what I found.

The moment I heard gunshots, I thought it was lightning. Then I heard water, and I thought it was just rain.

I thought, Awesome, about to get some good sleep. I had just turned over in my bed, snuggled up, and was ready, thinking I’d be able to sleep to the sound of rain, which is the best rest.

But instead, I walked into bullet holes and flooding in my apartment. It was raining inside my home. One of the wildest things that has happened to me.

Even with everything that happened, I had to show up to DJ on Saturday and support a friend giving a panel discussion on Sunday.

But the damage left behind — to my DJ equipment (headphones, controller, speakers, hard drive) and my living situation — has left me in a tight place.

In addition to the physical damage to my apartment, I lost valuable DJ equipment that I rely on for my income. My headphones, controller, speakers, and hard drive — all of which were damaged by the flooding — are vital keys to my ability to work and earn a living. Replacing this equipment is a priority, but the damage to my home and the situation overall have made it challenging to secure stability.

I’m asking for your help because, right now, I have to focus on rebuilding both my livelihood. The loss of my equipment means I can’t earn income the way I used to. But your support can change that. You’re not just helping me get my belongings back; you’re helping me rebuild my life and home.

$50 for basic moving expenses and essentials.

$100 to help secure emergency housing and stabilize my situation.

$200+ to replace my DJ equipment and get back to work (headphones, controller, speakers, hard drive).

Moving expenses and other immediate recovery costs as I try to rebuild everything that was lost.
