Support Mental Wellness at Macomb High School
Help us raise $3,500 for Health and Wellness Week 2026

Hello, my name is Kate Killian, and I am the founder of Community Change and a 2025 graduate of Macomb High School. My goal this year is to raise $3,500 to support the mental wellness of students at Macomb High School through our annual Health and Wellness Week. I’ve considered fundraising for several different organizations this year, but my heart keeps leading me back to Macomb High School and the mental health of my peers. That’s where I feel my support can make the most meaningful impact.

My Story -

When I was five years old, I noticed that some of my classmates didn’t have snacks at snack time. I shared my own, but I also wanted to do something more. That year, I started Community Change, an organization dedicated to helping people and animals in need.

With nothing more than a Ziploc bag, I went door-to-door offering small services—walking dogs, watering plants, feeding fish—in exchange for spare change. With my first $75 raised, I bought snacks for my classmates and stuffed animals for reading time. That spirit of giving has grown with me ever since.

Today, Community Change has raised over $25,000 for local schools, charities, organizations, and memorial funds. Each year, I continue to volunteer, donate my birthday gifts, and create fundraising projects close to my heart.

Why Mental Health Matters to Me -

As a member of the “Covid Generation,” I experienced the isolation, anxiety, and depression that many of my peers faced during the pandemic. In 2021, as a freshman at Macomb High School, I raised funds to support our guidance counselors and establish a Health and Wellness Week. The program included speakers and activities that inspired hope, connection, and healing within our school community.

Since then, I have continued to raise funds annually to ensure that Wellness Week grows stronger each year.
