Katelynn's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
For those who don’t know, my little sister Katelynn suffered a significant stroke on January 25th. She is 26 years old. She was taken in an ambulance to Texas Health Presbyterian where they performed a procedure immediately to remove a clot from her brain as well as a clot from her neck. She still has many clots in her lungs and a very large clot in her left leg that goes from her thigh down to her calf. They have also discovered that she has a PFO hole in her heart which allowed the clot to pass through to her brain. She was in a medically induced coma for just over 24 hours. Early Monday (1/27) morning the doctors brought her out of the coma and took her off the ventilator. She is now awake and talking, but her speech is slow and somewhat hard to understand. She still has no movement in the left side of her body but she can talk and swallow. On Wednesday (1/29) she was moved out of the ICU and transferred to the stroke floor of the hospital. She is still there being monitored closely and having daily physical therapy visits. On Monday (2/3) she will be transferred from the hospital in Texas to an inpatient rehabilitation facility at Mercy in OKC.
The next few months to a year are going to be extremely challenging for her and our family. We have created this Go Fund Me page with the hope of relieving some of the financial burden. She is going to have mounting medical bills and require extensive care for the foreseeable future. She will also most likely require heart surgery to repair the hole in her heart. Not only is there the medical side of things, but also the personal. She can no longer live in her 2 story apartment. There is going to be a significant financial impact from having to end the lease on her apartment, put her belongings in storage, and pay for any other services she may need in the coming months while she cannot work. We appreciate any amount that you can give, and all the prayers and well wishes that we can get. ❤️
