Katelyn Needs Your Help to Stay Strong

Hello, my name is Katelyn. I am 26 years old. Since birth, I have been struggling with a condition called Lymphangioma, which has resulted in me having only one and a half lungs and no thyroid or parathyroid glands. Consequently, I have faced significant challenges in securing shelter, food, and employment. As my condition continues to deteriorate, I experience increasing weakness on a daily basis. Recently, I have developed seizures, which were initially of unknown origin until it was discovered that I have multiple calcium deposits in my brain and throughout my body. The calcium deposits in my brain are so deeply embedded that surgical intervention would be extremely difficult, not to mention the substantial financial burden it would entail. Furthermore, I have been informed that there are no medical professionals in Indiana willing to perform the necessary surgery. The frequency of my grand mal seizures, which can occur anywhere from daily to monthly, has significantly impacted my ability to maintain stable employment.

I must emphasize that I am not one to seek assistance readily, but a friend has generously provided me with temporary housing for a month. I am now reaching out for help, not out of desire, but out of necessity. Living with a chronic illness has left me feeling hopeless and debilitated. The absence of my thyroid and parathyroid glands, combined with the seizures, necessitates the intake of 12 medications three times a day. Unfortunately, due to my compromised organ function, my body often struggles to absorb these medications, resulting in frequent hospitalizations. My low vitamin levels can have a profound impact on my daily life. I am seeking guidance and support as I navigate the challenges of living independently, fearful that I may end up homeless or worse.
